The West Indies cricket team today wrapped up its first training session since arriving in Jamaica for the three match T20 International Series against South Africa.
The team worked out under the supervision of head coach Darren Sammy and Jamaican opener Brandon King who will captain the side in the three games with regular skipper Rovman Powell unavailable due to IPL committment.
Vice captain Alzarri Joseph, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell and Shai Hope will also miss the series while Shamar Joseph is due to join the squad in the next day or two.
Allrounder Roston Chase is expected to play a key role in the West Indies quest for a third world T20 title and he believes the games against South Africa and the final warm-up against Australia will help to sharpen the West Indies for the World Cup.
Chase says it’s a shame Jamaica will not be hosting any of the World Cup games, but he’s calling on the fans to show their support in numbers for the three games against the Proteas.
